Information regarding jee counselling

I would like to share the information regarding jee counseling i got from an authentic source as mentioned below.

There is always a confusion among IIT qualifiers whether to chose a better program or a better IIT.With the opening of 6 new IITs the confusion has increased further for all the students who don't have a 3 digit rank.There are many other apprehensions related to 5 yr courses,upgradation and many more.
I will systematically provide answers to some popular queries

1)In a rank between 1 to 500 which is the best IIT and best program to choose from?
In such a rank confusion is seldom.He suggested that students should prefer a better IIT that a program as all the branches like cs,electrical,mechanical are equally good.For cs one must prefer IIT Kanpur over other IITs.Taking a 5yr course won't be a good option in such a rank as equally good 4yr programs are available in such ranks.

2)In a rank between 501 to 1000 which is the best IIT and best program to choose from?
In the early 500's mech. in IIT d is the best option.Chem. in IIT d and b are also good prospects.
he also suggested that in this rank one must remain in the original 5 IIT's.Those who are inclined towards cs can feel safe to take this program in IIT guwahati.

3)In a rank between 1000 to 1500 which is the best IIT and best program to choose from?
The real confusion begins in such ranks.Those who are interested in better programs like cs,electrical and mechanical have a great option of taking up the new IITs.
As it is clear every new iit has a mentor iit,standard of teaching and infrastructure cannot be questioned.More importantly these IITs require a lot of time to build infrastructure so there is a very realistic possibility that the students can complete their whole course within the mentor IIT's.Also since its the first batch,placements will be done in the mentor iit's as well.
IIT Hyderabad,Rajasthan,Punjab and Bhuvaneshvar are better options.
IIT patna and gandhinagar must not be considered as their present campuses are not the mentor iit's.
One can also opt for prod.in iitd, chemical in iit kanpur and kharagpur.
One must prefer programs like mech.,chemical,electrical in IIT roorkee ,kharagpur,madras etc. except taking up civil or 5yr programs in iit bombay,delhi or kanpur as eventually in the long run branch matters.

4)In a rank between 1501 to 2000 which is the best IIT and best program to choose from?
Again, cs,mech or elec. in the new iits can be a great option as he strongly suggested above. instead of taking civil , metallurgy or other core programs in iit-b, iit-d or iit-k one should go for either new iits or a better program like chemical, mechanical, production, in iit-roorkee or one can also opt for aerospace in iit- madras.

5) In a rank between 2001 to 2500 which is the best IIT and best program to choose from?
Joining the new iits stand the best chance in this rank. Else, one can also opt for mathematics and computing in iit-kanpur which is in great demand in the present times. Production in iit-roorkee can also be one of the good options. Chemical Dual in iit-roorkee is also a good option.

6) In a rank ranging from 1000 to 2000 , 4yr program is better or a 5yr program ?
In these ranks, one should give preference to the 5 yr programs available in courses like electrical, mechanical and chemical. Since Mtech in these departments gives you an extra advantage over normal 4yr courses in terms of placement. However, if one wants an early job, he may go for a 4yr course.
